This Privacy Policy explains how the Phrasal Verb Master mobile app ("the app"), published by Everything English with John ("we", "us"), handles information. We have designed the app to collect as little data as possible.
To remember your progress, your selected language, and your preferences (such as light or dark mode), the app saves this information locally on your device using standard on-device storage. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us or to any server, and is removed when you uninstall the app. We cannot see it.
To understand how the app is used and to make it better, we use Google Analytics for Firebase, a service provided by Google. It collects anonymous usage data — for example, which screens you open, which practice activities and features you use, your selected app language, and general device information such as device model and operating-system version. Google also derives an approximate (city-level) location from your IP address.
This information is associated only with a randomly generated app-instance identifier. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites. We use it solely to see which parts of the app are useful and where we can improve. You can read more in the Firebase Privacy and Security overview and the Google Privacy Policy.
The app includes real-world example clips using YouTube's official embedded player. We do not host or download these videos. When you play an embedded clip, YouTube and Google may collect information (such as device identifiers and viewing data) in accordance with their own policies. This is controlled by Google, not by us. For details, see the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
The app offers an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional content. All payments are processed by Apple through its standard in-app purchase system; we never receive or store your payment-card details. To confirm whether a subscription is active and to restore purchases across your devices, we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat records your purchase history (for example, which product was bought and whether it is still active) against a randomly generated app-user identifier that is not linked to your name, email, or other personal information. The app contains links to external websites we operate or partner with (for example our website, a lesson-booking page, an italki referral link, and a "Buy Me a Coffee" support page). If you tap one, you leave the app and the destination site's own privacy policy applies. We do not pass your personal information to those sites; tapping a link simply opens it in your browser.
The app is intended for a general audience of English learners aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app embeds YouTube content, parents and guardians should be aware of Google's policies linked above.
Other than the anonymous subscription records and the anonymous analytics data described above, we do not collect personal data, and we never sell your data. All network connections made by the app use encrypted HTTPS.
Because your learning data is stored locally on your device, you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the app. There is no account to delete. The only information kept off your device is the anonymous purchase record described under "Purchases and subscriptions"; to request its removal, email us at the address below.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
